Hello Weds nite crew,
Well, for the first time in many weeks, rain, lightening and thunder is NOT in the forecast for tomorrow night, so we got that going for us. Instead, it looks like we will have a breeze in the 8-12 knot range from the NE, veering to the right and diminishing to be an ESE at 4-8 knots. So, if that happens later we may finally get one of the “North” courses in, if not, it is back to R12 and course 4!!
Anyway, we know there will be a low/slack tide at 5:30 PM, with the current then flooding, and a sunset at 7:48. Oh, and cheeseburger clubs at The Sail Loft, so that is nice. We have eight on tomorrow night, and Erin is our “standby crew” for anyone who might need to cancel at the last moment.

Everyone meet at the boat at 10:30 AM to rig up, off the dock and out the the harbor islands start area by 11 AM.

One race, first gun no earlier than 1155 hours, time limit 1700 hours. Start by Spectacle Island. The Race Committee will announce the course at least 15 minutes before the first warning. Courses will not be shortened. Courses 1 & 2 may be sailed in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction at the skippers discretion, Course 3 will only be sailed counterclockwise. Our start time will be either 12:37:17 for course 1 (14 miles) 12:29:17 for Course 2 (11 miles) or 12:18:38 for course 3 (7 miles).

When we finish the race we will return to Lewis Wharf. There is an after-race party at Savin Hill Yacht Club for anyone who wants to attend.

As always, there will be water Gatorade, beer and cider on board. Bring lunch to eat between the Warning signal at 11:55 AM and 10 minutes before our start time, plus any other snacks/beverages you might want. Oh, and as Big Jim would say, bring your GAMESFACES for the last weekend race of the year!!

CHANGE OF LOGISTICS!

We will all meet at Lewis Wharf on Saturday at 10:30 AM to rig up the boat, off the dock by 11 AM. We will motor directly to the course area so we can sail most of the course before the race to plan out wind angles and sail changes. After the finish, the boat will proceed to the Hull Yacht Club for the post-race party. For anyone who needs to be back in Boston early, the Hull Ferry runs to Long Wharf at 4:20 and 6:20 and takes 35 minutes. Otherwise, the boat will be of the dock from Hull by 7 PM so we can be back to Lewis Wharf some time after 8 PM.

The HUGE post race party includes Dinner, Live Band, Dancing · Awards: Five divisions, 1st – 5th in each division. · Perpetual sailing club team trophy. Bring a sandwich/snacks for lunch before the race. As always, there will be water, Gatorade and Corona on board.

This is a pursuit race, one of three possible courses will be used, the warning signal for the first boat will be no earlier than 12:55 PM,. As of Thursday 9/19 there are 101 boats registers. Of these, 97 boats will start ahead of dopodomani, and 4 boats will start behind us. Our goal is to pass all 97 while keeping the 4 behind us. Good times!!

Correct Sunny, there is no race for us on Sept 30, as Nicole and I will be finishing our packing/moving prep for the North End apartment, and the boat will be ready to get hauled out and transported down to Florida for the winter! So we only have this Weds night race (Sept 16) and next Weds race (Sept 23) left on the schedule
That being said, I anticipate the need to break some of the boat down on the weekend of Sept 26. I'm going to plan on being down to the boat on Sat 9/26 from about 11-3 PM to get her ready for her trip down to Marina Bay to get hauled. Anyone interested in helping out??

Looks like Weds Sept 30 is unscheduled, so this Weds the 23rd might be our last Rogue race for Boston in 2020...? It's been a fun season (such as it was!)

So dress warmly, bring your foulies, and let's wrap this season up in style!And after the race, there is a Constitution Yacht Club get-together at The Blackmoor, so if anyone is interested in joining me to meet up with the other boats and crews you are more than welcome.
