Ahoy Sailors,
Looks like we have a LOVELY day in store for tomorrow, cloudy in the AM, sunny in the PM, temps in the low 70s with a very low chance of any sort of precip. The wind is supposed to be from the ESE in the 7 – 12 knot range during the race, and down at Point Allerton at the end of Nantasket Roads the current will be flooding to 266° until it hits slack/high tide at around 2 PM, then it is ebbing to 72° after that.
It looks like it is a Weds nite race out there tomorrow, with us, Rockit 2.0 and Agora the only 3 boats in B Fleet. This will likely be a bit of a distance race using offshore government marks, something around 15 miles that will take about 3 hours to sail. Our first mark could be a short leg of 1.7nm at 123° to Harding Ledge (Mark U), a 6.5nm trek at 140° to David Ledge (Mark X) or even a marathon of 8.1nm at 122° out to G “21” (Mark V) if the RC is feeling saucy. You never know with the Hingham Bay RC, we will see.
Our meeting area at Point Allerton is 8.3nm from Lewis Wharf, and we will have a foul tide against us most of the way, so it will likely take us 90 minutes to motor out there. Let’s all try to be at the boat as close to 9:30 AM as possible, and we can rig up while we are motoring out.
As always, there will be water and Gatorade on board for the crew during the race, and Corona, hard cider and snacks for after the race on the 90 minute motor home, I’m hoping to be back to the dock no later than 5 PM. Make sure you bring a sandwich, snacks and any other thing you might want to eat/drink.
We have a good crew of 8 on tomorrow, and I have all of the Hingham Bay marks programmed in the chart plotter, so with any luck we will be headed in the right direction right from the start. See you all then!
