  1. Hello Wednesday night (8/7) crew!

Well, with any luck the weather gods will coöperate and we will get a race in this week. Predictwind is calling for “winds from the South at 8 knots increasing to 11 knots with possible gusts up to 19 knots.” The Weather Channel is saying “variable clouds with thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Storms may contain strong gusty winds. High 83F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.”

So, it looks like it will be another “wait for the email from Lance at 4-4:30 to confirm we are a go.We have nine on as of now, with Anders on standby crew in case someone needs to cancel, so if you do, text him directly at ‭(314) 660-7203‬ to get him to sub for you.

If we are able to get out at 5:30, I want to do two things: first, hoist the J/109 chicken chute that I bought to see how it works and to get a handle on how much tack line and halyard need to be adjusted due to the short luff length. Second, I want to do a leeward douse of that kite and then swap it out for the reacher, and re-hoist. This is a maneuver we may need to use int he Flip Flop on Saturday, and with BOTH of our Bow(wo)men on board tomorrow night (Maureen and Caleb) plus our emergency bowman Jackson, it will be a prime time to practice this.

Oh, and BTW, the reacher has been repaired with all of my horrible tape jobs removed, AND all three spinnakers now have rings on the clews instead of pigtails…PLUS, I spliced up two new removable pigtails to make it easier to attach the sheets to the spinnaker, so lots of new stuff to go over.

Hope to see you all tomorrow night, as I said, I will get a group text out around 4-4:30 to confirm one way or the other if we are sailing.

    Dear Christopher,

After consulting with Courageous, it is our intention to race tonight. Keep an eye on the skies, and be prepared for a short postponement if there are any other pop-ups closer to 6.
